Jeff Tweedy is a Chicago-based Grammy award winning musician, best known as the frontman of the legendary indie rock act Wilco. He’s behind iconic albums like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and Ghost Is Born (which are favorites here at PI), and has great solo discography (check out his newest track How Sweet I Roamed featuring Claire Rousay) and other gems like Uncle Tupelo's March 16-20, 1992. Wilco’s latest EP Hot Sun Cool Shroud is out now with a new physical release coming on Friday. This fall, he played a solo tour, and if you missed out on that, you can check out Wilco’s winter tour dates here. Outside of his discography, he’s been posting on his Substack, Starship Casual, where he shares songs, advice, general musings, and whatnot...” He also tells us he’s in the stu working on some new stuff. Lucky for us, Jeff’s here to tell us what he’s been into.

Thick lead
There are opinionated stationary snobs all over the world and they're my kind of people. But it isn't weight or style or size that gets me going. Give me a thick piece of lead above all else. My recent favorite writing companion is the Mark Sheet Sharp 1.3 mechanical pencil Style B. The description says it's "Perfect for filling in bubble sheets" and the description don't lie.

Editions Ballard Notebooks
While we're at it... my favorite recent notebook find comes from Australia. Jillian crafts these notebooks with musicians in mind and it worked! Perfect with or without a sticker.

Mouth trumpet
This recent music video for "Juna" by Clairo (another favorite) reminded me how great and criminally underutilized the mouth trumpet is. I'd pay to see her and Stephen Colbert have a mouth trumpet-off.

Every Abernethy Guitar I add to my collection is an Abernethy Guitar that I need. And some people might say that I don't "need" any more guitars. But those people don't get it. Justin continues to make my newest favorite guitar.

Car-warmed Brown Cinnamon Sugar Pop-Tarts
My car speakers are one of my most trusted companions. So I spend a lot of time driving because it's where I listen back to the music I'm making. A package of BCSPTs left in the passenger seat the evening before a warm summer morning drive is my hottest hot tip. If you haven't done this, you should do this.
