Steff Yotka is a New York City–based editor who you might remember from the early days of Perfectly Imperfect, where she appeared as a guest back in 2021 while serving as Senior Fashion News Editor at Vogue Runway. Her editorial career spans notable publications such as Ssense and Vogue, and she now holds the role of Global Editorial Director at i-D magazine. At the end of March, i-D relaunched its print edition for the first time since 2019 with the Spring/Summer 2025 issue, The Unknown Issue. Available online now, the issue celebrates those whose careers were launched through i-D’s iconic covers. This edition features FKA twigs, Naomi Campbell, and rising star Enza Khoury. You can secure your copy here. You can also catch Steff on a recent episode of the Throwing Fits podcast. Lucky for us, Steff’s here to share what she’s been into.

I love Rachel Howe’s tarot deck and handbook and seek her out whenever she’s in New York—which is rare. In the times I can’t find her IRL, I visit a URL version of her deck for a daily pull. A nice way to center yourself each morning.

I think about this album all the time and listen to it even more. Let’s start with the album art—fawn-eyed shirtless Prince with a feathered late ’70s blow out? Swoon. Every song on this album is perfect, soulful, electrifying. If “I Wanna Be Your Lover” doesn’t send a tidal shockwave through your bones, you need to find God. He’s purple.

Last time I reco’ed Big Dress Energy—I still stand by this, but have some tweaks. Two Dress, Three Shirt is the ratio I’m following now, layering a slip dress or petticoat dress under a sheer dress for a more undone look, or if I’m wearing a skirt, the top layers go tee, overshirt, jacket. Thinner layers and less poufy—still very magpie, maybe a little more grungy. Lynn Yaeger is the poster child of 2Dress3Shirt.

My perfect relationship with my phone is one where I can send signals but can’t receive them. I call this “going ghost mode:” I can communicate with you via obscure gestures, but you will struggle to summon me. It’s a great way to spend the weekend—phone in do not disturb, at the park talking to my dog, occasionally scrolling Instagram and The RealReal, sending a link or two to a friend but not overdoing it on screen time. It’s 85% touch grass with 15% brain rot. I understand this is somewhat antisocial, but it works for me. I’ll get back to you on Monday (probably).

If you want to feel like you’re in the Microsoft Windows background but better, go to Kaffi SĂłl in Iceland. I stopped by on a camping trip through the Westerfjords; it’s a cafĂ© inasmuch as it’s a room adjacent to SĂłl’s house. You order in her living room, and she brings your coffee and toast out to you on a sprawling patio that overlooks a fjord. The sun, the mountains, nearly nothing else in sight except the Holt Inn across the water. Like a storybook—and the coffee is excellent.

No accessory has changed my life quite like these sparkling legwarmers. Completely glamorama and over the top, but intended to rip, fringe, and fray, they make any outfit look glitzier without being fussy or prim. I wish I owned them in a dozen colors.
