untitled (halo) is a Los Angeles-based band composed of Jack Dione, Ariana Mamnoon, and Jay Are. I stumbled upon them last year, and they quickly became a PI favorite. Back in August, they played their first sold-out headline show at Baby’s All Right, presented by You Missed It, Nina Protocol, and us (Perfectly Imperfect). This year, they’ve released some incredible singles (try this one), toured with DIIV, and their newest single blunt subconscious dropped this week. You can catch them playing at Pitchfork London, supporting Mark William Lewis, and supporting The Hellp. They also tell us that their next EP is out at the end of November, and they’re throwing a free EP release party on Nov 23 at Zebulon with DJs The Hellp, Jasmine Johnson, Irene Lee, and Touching Ice. Lucky for us, untitled (halo)’s here to tell us what they’ve been into.

I fucking love this song. I don’t even particularly know why. Listen to the peel session version from 98, it’s the best version. Listening to BJM is important. - Jack

Journaling saves my life on a daily basis. Being able to become present after a long hectic day or even just taking time to recount a beautiful day is really grounding to me. It’s so insane to be able to look back at a journal from three years ago and feel exactly how you / your world around you felt at that time. Also, a great alternative to social media. - Jack

Honestly, you need to know how bad it can get for you to enjoy what you have. It’s been a tough year, and with all this pain came a lot of growth. Thank God for growth I guess. - Jack

I’ve been removing some of my tattoos for the last year and half or so. It’s been an odd and cool experience. I always want to document it when I go. However, I recommend this for anyone who has a tattoo they no longer want. I got a Totoro tattoo’d on me and then removed, and my friend Davis always jokes about how he wants to get the same Totoro tattoo I had. - Ari

They make the best zip-up hoodie I hate to admit. - Ari

Favorite artist that combines electronic with downtempo with just beautiful sounds. Perfect for when you need to calm your brain or dance. Shinichi (aka Bot1500) is the kindest person. He let me use his track “chartreuse 8” in a short video I made. Listen to his music fr. Discovered through friend Tate’s mix (s/o Aura Smudge on Orange Radio). - Ari

grateful for the archive as everything becomes edited erased and forgotten in real time there’s remnants of the past here alive and reduced to files. favorite recent find has been this handbook for the chateau marmont from 1996 with writing by william faulkner, eve babitz, and mike davis. make sure to search the metadata.  edit: since i wrote this archive.org has unfortunately been shut down so here’s some ashwagandha supplements i been vibing with lately - Jay

a seamless 30 min set feat. members of L.A.’s finest Behavior + P22. throw this on immediately and try not to think about anything.  “Repetition is key here, as is genre, context, being looked at, standing around, etc.” RIP P-22 (lion) - Jay
