My name is Poppy, my sister is Pipi and my brother was going to be called Peppy. ultimately my dad decided Peppy was a bit much and named him Jed instead. 2/3 was a good effort.

It's a part of me. My parents consulted the elders in my family and the initials for my middle name also link back to my parents.
I've spent alot of life so far teaching people how to pronounce it and I refuse to give that level of effort up. My parents were cute in that way. I appreciate their intentions and will always feel very loved by it.

Is not my real name.
My dad always loved the name Jake though. When he and his sister were kids he inexplicably called her Jake (grandma hated this). When he eventually got the chance to name a boy (I was preceded by a bunch of sisters), he wanted it to be Jake.
But I was named something else, which my mom says was because my dad’s mom wanted me to have a Catholic name, and my dad says it was to name me after an uncle (on mom’s side) who had just passed away.
Either way, they have always called me Jake. And so I am sort of named after my uncle, sort of after my aunt.
I feel good about it.
If I was a woman I’d want my name to be Nora.
