I like putting my phone on black and white but sometimes you do need to know what color things are… my solution is I turned the saturation 95% down - this way my phone is not so stimulating to look at but I still can make out the color of things … and I think it is making my color perception heightened as a bonus

I am from this city and I can tell you it is terrible! and yet:
•You can see some of the best art in the world, and really enmesh yourself in a cultural scene, if that is your jam
•You can get most things that there are to get (but they are expensive)
•You can live with your friends in an apartment that is falling apart for not a crazy amount of money, if you hunt for the right place
•The pizza here is better than everywhere else in the world and I am not kidding I used to cry thinking about it when I lived in Maryland for a while
•Yes it is dirty and smelly but ? so are we all
•For all its woes, New York does have a really good sense of community if you can be open to it
•Pigeons are nice

yhis is my favorite activity… the other day on the bus I talked to a man who had such beautiful moist eyes and called me a “beautiful black woman” three times, and said I would someday be “a millionaire, a success, just like hitler!” but both with the same very earnest and kind tone of voice… it really confused me so hard that it snapped me out of my funk to be honest
Going for a little walk and maybe meet some people on the way to a cafe try to initiate small talk even if you feel like they’re gonna be a bore, most of the time you’ll actually enjoy it. Just talking in general it’s actually so fun to just talk to people.
