Why? I had to look this up to see if it’s a real word and it is(?!?). Whenever someone uses it I look down on them as I’m something of a grammar nerd. It turns out it’s basically a British spelling that means the same thing as disoriented. Now I’ll never be the same and I won’t judge people who use it any longer. Do you have any other words that sound like someone made them up?
