I find this tik tok ban to be one of the most blatant, obvious shows of the government trying to control the information we receive in a while— because if they can’t control what information is spread and how quickly it gets around on that app we can’t have it— and the way that so many politicians and billionaires bought stock in Meta in order to try to make even more money off of everyone once tik tok is gone is truly telling. The way this whole mess began last year and all of the people who have had their fingers in it or will benefit from it, and yet there are still people who don’t believe it. The amount of information Meta is collecting from us and now any device on the networks we connect to is creepy, and way more of a true danger than tik tok ever was. I’m so excited about the prospect of replacing meta apps with alternatives and will also be making the switch to a flip phone soon and only using my iPad for news, reading, etc. I’m over it and I’m over ai. So the question for anyone who stuck around to the end: where are you going next? What apps or websites seem to be the best as far as spreading and receiving news and information, which are the best for creators sharing how tos, recipes, hobbies, etc.? I hope we can all find something that works as well at getting important news to everyone but isn’t overrun by false articles and junk posts like older generations eat up on Facebook.
