If you’re like me and you have had (not exaggerating) probably 8 hours of screen time a day since you were 10, how did you break the shackles?? I have tried almost everything: app limits, grayscale, those “dumb phone” home screens, deleting social media apps, deleting entire accounts, sleeping with it in the other room. Nothing that would retain the function of the phone (messaging, music, maps, restaurant menus, fucking laundry machines, logging into my schoolwork for gods sake) really works to throw me off. What is the solution here? Physical phone jail?? Throwing my phone in the ocean and getting a flip?? Rejecting modernity? Dopamine detox of some sort? Start smoking cigarettes? I feel like my memory and my nervous system and my life and my body has suffered for too long
