I was on Discord the other night on call with my friends and we were really bored so Luke shared his screen and we did this fanmade tournament bracket style Drake song ranking thing. It would pit two songs against each other and then you choose which one you think is better and whichever one you pick moves on to the next round and then eventually once you get through all of the first round match-ups, all of the songs you picked in the first round get paired up randomly and pit against each other in the second round and you pick again. And this goes on until thereā€™s only 2 left and then I guess youā€™re supposed to be left with ā€œthe ultimate best Drake songā€. Anyway, I realized how much I love Scorpion even though it got completely shit on when it came out. Definitely think itā€™s over-hated, but it rules. The song that ended up winning our bracket was ā€œHeadlinesā€ which makes sense. I think his best album is still ā€œTake Care,ā€ ā€œNWTSā€ being a close second. Weā€™ve been playing a bunch of these bracket challenges for other stuff like movies, fast food, and other music stuff since then. Itā€™s really addicting.

for anyone not following hiphop, there is some entertaining and intense back and forth going down between drake and kendrick lamar. brief history: - drake features j cole on a verse in last yearā€™s First Person Shooter with the following line: Love when they argue the hardest MC Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali - in March, kendrick responds with a verse in future and metro boominā€™s Like That: Motherfuck the big three, n****, it's just big me - j cole drops a transphobic response track, apologizes for it, and deletes it from streaming, cementing his status as a goofy and a loser - drake replies with Push Ups, mainly trashing kendrickā€™s comparatively weak sales numbers, and saying he caters to too many white pop artists: Maroon 5 need a verse, you better make it witty Then we need a verse for the Swifties - drake drops a second diss track called Taylor Made Freestyle which features "AI" voice clones of tupac and snoop dogg; tupacā€™s family compelled drake to take this song down, allegedly at kendrickā€™s behest - kendrick replies with euphoria, absolutely tearing into drake from a multitude of angles. vulture has a breakdown of some of the sharpest bars: That's ho shit, I got a son to raise, but I can see you don't know nothin' 'bout that - kendrick drops another diss track back to back, putting out 6:16 in LA on instagram. kendrick enlists taylor swift collaborator jack antonoff for production and drops bars implying that drake entourage is filled with backstabbers: Have you ever thought that OVO was working for me? Fake bully, I hate bullies You must be a terrible person Everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it - drake gives a solid return shot with Family Matters, making some serious claims about kendrickā€™s personal life and beliefs, claiming he is violent with his wife, and going so far as to claim one of kendrickā€™s children is the illegitimate offspring of his business partner: I heard that one of 'em little kids might be Dave Free - within an hour of Family Matters, kendrick has already dropped Meet the Grahams. kendrick has taken the glove off, so to speak, and takes shots at every aspect of drakeā€™s image, including a reference to an ozempic prescription pictured on the album art, allegedly really belonging to drake (here addressing drakeā€™s son): Don't cut them corners like your daddy did, fuck what Ozempic did Don't pay to play with them Brazilians, get a gym membership - not resting on his laurels, kendrick goes back to back AGAIN by releasing Not Like Us before drake has a chance to respond. dropping any pretense or vagary, kendrick spends a significant amount of time directly accusing drake of pedophilia: Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young You better not ever go to cell block one this doesnā€™t really cover all of the barbs thrown or people who have been potentially roped in by stray lyrics, so i recommend hitting the links and listening through if you havenā€™t yet.

I have pretty niche tastes but I didn't choose that just like you didn't really choose to like Drake (apart from searching for stuff that you like). I had an ex girlfriend who was really into Taylor Swift which I had no problem with, I even got into a few songs to try relate to her on it, but whenever we would get talking about music she would kinda shut it down, even though I wanted to try have that exchange of art we like. I don't know how to word this too well but I think a lot of the time this 'evil competition' is just a result of people with different taste being afraid to try connecting. Also I probably enjoy Drake just as much or more than you might enjoy some noise rock or some shit. I AM AWFUL AT AUX. You can probably play music you like to a car full of people and they will like it. I am genuinely BANNED FROM AUX IN MY GROUP. It's way cooler to be able to enjoy music with such a large group of people than listening to some underground shit alone. If there are people that treat music like a competition to be more niche that's just so fucking lame and uncool. I just like what I like and I wish I liked Drake because I'd have more fun at parties. If you like Drake then you should listen to Drake because that's what you like.

Hear me out. Ever since the Kendrick / Drake beef, Iā€™ve found it hard to listen to a lot of recent Drake music. It feels like Drake as an artist is split into two distinct phases that is pre MEGA star and post MEGA star, and the post phase for me (Views, Scorpion, FATD, etc) has been pretty stained by the beef and that music just doesnā€™t feel like itā€™s aged gracefully. There is one outlier in this all for me and itā€™s Honestly Nevermind (excl Jimmy Cooks) Where the Kendrick beef highlighted a lot of the moments in Drakeā€™s music that kind of make me cringe or at the least roll my eyes, this album still feels fresh and also separate from the narrative of Drake as this MEGA star with no friends in the industry sending disses and Serena Williams and name dropping people ever other bar. Thereā€™s something about the vagueness of the writing on this album that feels so different for Drake. If you havenā€™t given this a proper chance, I really recommend it. Itā€™s easy to listen to and a total breath of fresh air amidst a pretty monotonous string of music.

My favorite manga Iā€™ve ever read. Last summer I pulled an all-nighter and binged the entire thing in one go. Such a brutal read. Love exists in many forms and the way the manga explores this concept is so so stellar. Definitely a big inspo for me and a must read in my eyes. Whether you like shonen or not, it's undeniably great.

It used to be chopped cheese but I had one the other night and it made me feel ill for some reason. Iā€™ve graduated to a spicy chicken cutlet on a roll with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo & banana peppers.

Me and my friend Luke from Wavedash played a lot of Pokemon Nuzlocke runs in the green room on tour. A Nuzlocke run is essentially just a custom ruleset intended to make the pokemon game series harder. You can alter the code of your game file, using a ROM hack on your computer, and you can make it so every single encounter with a pokemon is completely randomized. So you might be just starting the run leaving littleroot town or whatever and you might see a Rayquaza or something as one of the first pokemon you encounter. Every pokemon is randomized so even like other trainer battles you have no idea what youā€™re up against. And thereā€™s a bunch of house rules that you follow while playing so like whenever your pokemon faints in battle, you canā€™t use them anymore so theyā€™re essentially dead for good hahaha. Super good way to pass the time.
