I got this book at the Museum of Jurassic Technology when I was 19. It was written by a homeless MIT grad who would staple pamphlets of prose philosophy around UCLA in the 90ā€™s. Itā€™s kind of a precursor to a lot of what you see on twitter these days, schizoposting, etc.Ā  Iā€™ve always been inspired by guys like this, another interesting guy was Shea Zellweger. If youā€™re like me you sometimes get an impulse to exclude yourself from group activities, alienate yourself, etc. I like how committed he was to writing and posting this stuff.

I think I spent most of my life thinking I had a specific lack, i.e. that I was less "real" than the people around me. Only in the last few years did I realize that our general conditions produce what feels like a personal failing... we are awash in information but not meaning; the conditions of our lives feel disconnected from a shared history or struggle; the tools or vocabulary by which we can bring "ourselves" into being keeps getting thinner and more trivial. If you feel like you're waiting for yourself to arrive, waiting to be alive to yourself in a way that makes you aware that you are free, I recommend Kierkegaard. He's lowkey a funny troll, also.

Ron Hubbard, polyamory, Aleister Crowley, the FBI, the forming of multiple cults, cocaine/weed/morphine, Marxism, etc etc Feel like you could do a lot more weird & random shit in the 20th century, but maybe I just need to expand my mind

Last time I took this Nietzsche was highest Diogenes:Ā Diogenes chose to become homeless and settled in a big earthenware storage jar on the sidewalk. He stayed in his street-dwelling, where he shocked the Athenian citizenry through seemingly mad and crass behaviors, backed up by insults and occasional wise sayings. One could say that Diogenes was historyā€™s first punk, a true provocateur who cared little for his own well-being or physical safety, mocking both the highborn Plato and the mighty conqueror and king Alexander in a remorseless display of how conceited they looked when viewed through the lens of his jarring, no-holds-barred philosophy and view of life. Diogenes furthermore disapproved of conventional religion and believed social customs are human inventions and that adhering to them leads to hypocrisy.

I love living in Texas. I get that maybe it doesnā€™t have the best reputation as a place for ā€œcreativesā€, but I think the distance can be very beneficial. I like the open sky, lakes, bbq, and the people Iā€™ve met here. What's that Leonardo DaVinci quote ā€œ Once you have tasted the taste of sky, you will forever look upā€. I grew up near the pacific ocean and always disliked the beach. It always felt sad to me for some reason. A lot of people here who just kind of do their own thing. The pressure from places that demand explanations, discourse, ā€œa reason for why you do thingsā€, I think leaving that mostly behind has helped a lot personally.

Legend has it this manual was found in 1986 by an employee at Boeing inside an IBM printer being sold for scrap parts. It outlines how the credit system is predicated on population reduction. It has a lot of charts and diagrams that show how consumers are misled by manufactured causes and events. I have no idea if this is made up or not. It could be like the Voynich manuscripts, which have basically been debunked as totally fake. Honestly I think made up documents are cool. It's all just interesting to me.

This has helped me a lot. Data (thoughts, emotions, sensations) can be very overwhelming. Practicing/reading this has helped me not get too invested in the sensations, which is kinda like stroking a snake, the head and the tail both lead to being bitten.
