In virtually any weather at any speed walking from downtown to midtown is one of my favorite activities. If you are bored it’s just a really nice activity to do by yourself or with a friend. It's really meditative, you see neighborhoods change and can look at all these different things on the way. There are some fun places to stop on the way, like Kaluystayans and Dover Street Market or the Morgan Library. Once I arrive in midtown I like going to the Paris Theater, The Grill, or Ice skating in central park. MoMA can be fun too.

It is essential to remind yourself that Manhattan is a big city, with much more to offer than just the charades of downtown. Take the subway to the Upper West Side and walk through the park on 81st street. Go to the Met (you can skip the entire ticket line by entering through the student entrance to the left of the main stairs). Have dinner at my favorite restaurant “Celeste” on 84th and Amsterdam, or have lunch at “ Via Quadronno”  on 73rd between Madison and 5th. When you head back downtown or to Brooklyn at the end of the evening, you’ll feel like you traveled far and went on vacation. Feeling like a tourist in your own city is a gift and a thrill!

I like to take long walks, typically in the park. I live in Brooklyn, New York and I like to walk around Prospect Park. At the south end of the park there's a little area with a couple of benches in it, like a little sanctuary and I like to go over there to sit on the bench and watch all the different birds out in the pond. I like to go there in all different kinds of weather and see how it changes throughout the year. I just really get a kick out of nature and it actually can be pretty quiet there sometimes, which is hard to find in New York City.

I have an affinity for period pieces. Some of my favorites are by Merchant and Ivory—A Room with A View, Maurice, and Howards End. I also love Peter Greenaway’s The Draughtsman's Contract, Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon. Perceval Le Gallois by Eric Rohmer is also very intriguing. It feels more like filmed theater than veritable cinema but is definitely worth the watch. La Religieuse is fantastic, both the 1966 version by Jacques Rivette and the 2013 remake by Guillaume Nicloux. I feel like I was just reading somewhere that period films typically do very well in the box office so maybe I'm just preaching to the choir here but what can you do?????

My favorite philosopher du jour. I’m just really a huge fan. I’ll let you look him up if you are interested. That way I don’t annoy you with an unintelligible description of Harmon’s object oriented ontology (OOO).

Utterly obsessed with Kirsty Godso (KG), and her workouts. Perfect for at home. 30 minutes of exercise that is actually so efficient. Really gets you into shape if you do it like 3 times a week. You can find these on the nike training club app. She also teaches some skyting classes which are fun.
