Every Tuesday through Friday from 12:20 to 12:50 there's a free Bach performance at Grace Cathedral Church on 14th street. They have a really spectacular organ and a rotating program of world class organists. The series began on 9/11/2001 as a meditation for the grieving downtowners, but has since become a staple in the lives of many throughout the city. When I was a shop girl in the East Village I used to go on my lunch break to, as they write on their website, "briefly transcend the ugliness of the world." I've wept at Bach at Noon, been felt up at Bach at Noon, fallen in love at Bach at Noon, slept at Bach at Noon-- it's one of the most wonderful mainstays in my life.

I've been to see orchestras play twice recently at the local concert hall. I got my tickets for £5 both times. I put on a nice little outfit and walked through the park and got a glass of wine and sat down with everyone else and experienced awe!! I am new to classical music and I always come out of it with my ears feeling refreshed. Everything I listen to (of all genres) after sitting through a performance or listening to a whole symphony sounds so much more alive

It's so hard, it's taken me almost 30 years to learn how to do it in the most rudimentary way. People in New York hate this. Learn to love the depth of the mirror!

I'm a librarian. I'd like to marry a fireman. Or an astronaut. Bank robber. That kind of thing.
