Apparently there is a whole subsection of vintage(?) maps being sold on Etsy. I wanted one of my Motherland ( 🇸🇮🇸🇮) and was surprised to find that there are like…tons available for very reasonable prices lol? I suppose even by the late 19th century printing maps would’ve been widespread. I was expecting something more like a coin collector environment but this was much more chill. Anyway it’s cool way to connect w/ your culture and always a talking point. My favorite part of this map are the small areas illustrated outside of the defined edges. Hard to find such charming artistic liberties today. this print is something I can imagine pulling off my wall and exploring for years to come my stara mama’s village is printed on this late-19th century map of “Krain”, the German name of the historical region Carniola, largely contiguous with modern day Slovenia

My favorite activity at the moment. So fun to create a town, city, or land mass and imagine the history behind why there are people there and what makes the place function
