I'm blown away by how natural and relevant they feel. Especially in his early work, (who's afraid of Virginia Woolf, carnal knowledge, the graduate) he explores the human condition through subtle intimacies and conversations that reveal incredible depths of his characters.

He directed The Graduate (1967) and later directed The Birdcage (1996). Mike Nichols made his directorial debut with the film “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” He’s won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. He also was a theater director. Check out The Birdcage for a very heart warming LGBTQ comedy or The Graduate for a beautiful soundtrack, shots, and sweet coming of age

Film at Lincoln Center is currently doing an full retrospective of the iconic Brit filmmaker, Mike Leigh. I got into him doing lockdown when my best friend gave me a list of his films to start off with. Last week I saw Secrets and Lies which won the Palme D’Or in 1996. Afterwards Leigh came out for a Q & A which i couldn’t stay for but I highly recommend, especially on the big screen.

I've been thinking about these guys, six foot long, blood-red tube worms that live deep in the ocean. Without sunlight they survive in hydrothermal vents (magma interacting with water to create livable conditions). These conditions are thought to exist on Mars,  so who knows.
