So I was trying to figure out something I saw w my mom and my sister years ago by looking through old photos and I came across this photo that is of shinro ohtake’s scrapbook that i wrote my essay about in highsxhool in order to be able to take AP Art History It was probably the first time I was in a museum and consciously trying to pay attention to the art (the other time I can think of is wandering across a jacolby satterwhite video by accident while visiting family and going home and looking him up on tumblr lol) but I just now learned about his noise/“conceptual” band juke/19 ! check it out first LP in link “Juke/19 was a Japanese underground conceptual band, found in 1978 by an artist and painter Shinro Ohtake. An active phase of the project only lasted for about two years, with four LP albums released from December 1980 to September 1982”

If you like punk music at all this is a must watch!! Here's the blurb: Before Bad Brains, the Sex Pistols or even the Ramones, there was a band called Death. Punk before punk existed, three teenage brothers in the early '70s formed a band in their spare bedroom, began playing a few local gigs and even pressed a single in the hoped of getting signed. But this was the era of Motown and emerging disco. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vru_cgNnNv4&t=1077s) This documentary kind of changed my life I can't even lie to you, and their album ...for all the world to see is really masterful work. check it out --> https://open.spotify.com/album/1cRdIMuwJKSrsQXbp18jGZ?si=lwbxIEWsRT2DpvvE6O9VfA

I’m about halfway through it, but so far it’s been really informative and interesting. It’s all about the birth and evolution of the indie music scene in the US, with an emphasis on punk, post punk, noise, emo, and what we would now broadly call “indie rock.” Each chapter is dedicated to a different band, highlighting influential acts like Black Flag, The Minutemen, Minor Threat, Fugazi, and my current hyperfixation: Sonic Youth. Check it out and buckle in for a pretty long and wild ride through the history of indie rock.

old men named things like “Larry“ and “Bob” will respond with either confusion or desire, it feels more mystical than most religion, and is great fun. write to a friend, or someone you lost, or someone you want
