Certainly shows its age but it's pretty enjoyable. Love a genre exploration/dark twist. Madoka's older sister who smokes American Spirits and pounds Soju on a Tuesday.

flip flappers is a sci-fi magical girl original anime (meaning it isn’t adapted from a source material) which is an interesting combination of genres to say the least. it started airing in japan in 2016 and has since then retained a close to nonexistent fandom. however, the few people who’ve picked it up have highly rated it—one of them being me. we follow cocona, a seemingly ordinary middle school student living a normal life with her grandmother, and papika, an energetic and eccentric—manic pixie even—girl, as they go on adventures in an alternate dimension called pure illusion. I’ve heard that some have found it boring after the first few episodes (probably due to the seemingly rinse and repeat plot), but I would suggest watching it all the way. it gets very interesting and the animation and creativity put into the series is beautiful. it’s only 12 eps, each one being around 20 mins long.

my taste in anime and manga is a bit all over the place, but if we’re like-minded, then you might just absolutely love these <3 this isn’t in any particular order 01. wonder egg priority — last three eps or so are rushed and the ending is kinda wonky but overall a good take of the magical girl genre 02. the ice guy and his cool female colleague — just a chill romance with some supernatural sprinkled in 03. bibliomania — obscure asf with no official english translation and the original japanese release was limited I believe 04. frieren: beyond journey’s end — favourite anime alongside flip flappers. a slice of life fantasy 05. apothecary diaries — fun mystery set in a fictional country inspired by imperial china 06. the summer hikaru died — a promising horror with implied queer characters. take what I said with a grain of salt since it’s been a while since I read it 07. kaguya-sama: love is war — hilarious romcom about rich high schoolers minus the protagonist 08. chainsaw man — a fever dream ngl, but a good one 09. uzumaki — classic horror. has some romance elements tbh 10. haikyuu —my original favourite sports anime ^^ it holds a special place in my heart 11. blue lock + episode nagi — my absolute fave sports manga rn even though I can’t take it seriously at times. kaiser’s my favourite red flag 12. girls’ last tour — end of the world slice of life. bittersweet 13. violet evergarden — fyi the relationship is weird, but I just choose to ignore it. aside from that, everything else is beautiful though) 14. flip flappers — so very underrated! the fandom is pretty much nonexistent. sci-fi magical girls) 15. good night punpun — definitely not for the faint of heart. depression incarnate and has many mature themes and triggering topics

Deleted tiktok and finished three books in a week. I should’ve deleted the app sooner. It’s actually so insane how ingrained tiktok scrolling has been in my daily routine. without the app I was just scrolling through the most random apps ever, then realized like damn this is a problem 😭 I miss it bad but I also don’t need it. Twitter is next 🙏 I need to fill my time with productive and fulfilling activities, no more mindless scrolling ‼️
