Bought these on a whim for $100 the other night after taking an edible and pretty much forgot until they shipped. Willing to concede that this might be bc i mostly wear boots and salomons, but these shoes feel like walking on marshmallows comparatively on the first day so I’m excited to see what they feel like when they’re broken in. They lowkey look like orthopedic/dad shoes but in a way that I actually kind of fuck with. theyre also maybe a little more norm core than I expected. im still basically evaluating them as a Design Object

my new balance 530s are prob some of the comfiest shoes i’ve ever had (and i’m obsessed with this colorway) the mesh near my pinkies (both feet) did unfortunately give out after like a year though so idk how much i can vouch for the quality thinking about trying the asics gel 1130 next as they seem pretty comparable and i just love a dad shoe

I get asked about this quite a lot from both sneaker + non-sneaker people. They’re a great walking shoe and hold up well to cool dad™️ playground duty. The grey colorway is a nice change of pace from the New Balance 990 that you’ll see on everyone else. And did I mentioned that they’re only $90? Asics has a plethora of great models, but this is the best entry point sneaker that (I think) any athletic brand makes.

I remember a few weeks back there was some discourse about how good the band Failure is, and I want to use this opportunity to echo a growing appreciation I’ve been seeing for the 00s indie rock band Pinback. i really mess with their album Blue Screen Life (2001), super fun, melodic, bouncy guitar music with post hardcore guitars, sugary vocal harmonies and buzzy synthesizers. While I think you’d obviously be into them if you’re into like Jimmy Eat World or Death Cab, I also would recommend for fans of The Postal Service, Frou Frou, Blonde Redhead, even like Unknown Mortal Orchestra or Stereolab. this some melancholic indie pop/post-emo with electronic elements and creative songwriting yall. If you a Pinback head, sound off in the comments - what is your favorite pinback riff…

I loved this band for a while but I started listening to this album after someone from work played Moonchild for me (unreal song). Awesome Shibuya-kei/electronic vibes throughout, but also filled with super nerdy musical references (metal, lounge, 90s hip hop). Yeaaaaah its Kind of like if the Frost Children listened to Stan Getz and Dan the automator instead of Skrillex and Fall Out Boy. And if they were from Japan instead of like probably Minnesota or Connecticut or whatever. Sean Lennon was in the band at this point that's pretty cool. Miho hatori is so goated too I just learned the she was the original voice of Noodle in the Gorillaz. Also this cover is fire, looks like Michel gondry adaptation of I'm blue daboodeedabodie! Fav tracks: spoon, clouds, moonchild For fans of: Cornelius, stereolab, early Bjork, everything but the girl
