Like just sort of sad and heart wrenching but beautiful and maybe hopeful and sometimes a little funny and a little dumb, depending on your mood and your current situation. -Blue Valentine -Take This Waltz -Small Apartments To a lesser extent: -Drinking Buddies -Safety Not Guaranteed

Ok but fr.. If you liked Worst Person in the World then watch… Weekend (2011) If you liked Eternal Sunshine then watch… Punch Drunk Love (2002) If you liked Anatomy of a Fall (I haven’t seen it yet) then watch… Force Majeure (2014)  If you want to be moved, a James Ivory film is always reliable in that department. My favorites are Maurice 💔❤️‍🩹 (hugh grants floppy hair should have won best supporting actor) and Room With a View ❤️‍🔥 (Beauty! Joy! Love!) Misc. movies that made me cry:  -Harold & Maude (1971) it’s a classic! -Moonlight (2016) I mean cmon yeah -Handmaiden (2016) always rocks my world  -Petite Maman (2021) you’ll want to give your mom a hug after -Short Term 12 (2013) early Brie Larson and Lakeith Stanfield… underrated imo -A Monster Calls (2016)… it’s a ya/kids movie but made my mom and I both sobbed in the theater lol

from gut wrenching to a light tug: mustang (2015)- made me cry twice in one watch. (disclaimer: a lot of turkish people have mixed feelings abt how this movie represents turkish culture so watch with a grain of salt but also remember misogyny does in fact exist everywhere) la chimera (2023)- there is a looming melancholy throughout the whole film but the last 30 minutes really did a number on me thelma & louise (1991)- gut wrenching in a beautiful female friendship kinda way lars and the real girl (2007)- the premise looks silly on paper and tbh it is but it still made me cry in the end nonetheless (maybe i’m just a dweeb) haru (1996)- early internet bonds. also more on the lighthearted side of things but tugs at the heart.

The Florida Project - a bittersweet movie depending on which ending you subscribe to Aftersun - a slow and subtle build to a heart breaking climax The Iron Claw - a devastating movie based on an even more devastating true story Sing Sing - overall a hopeful movie but there's a few very hard hitting human moments I Saw The TV Glow - already brutal, and then you figure out what it's really saying The Lobster - just bleak man Beautiful Something Left Behind - a documentary about children dealing with grief

Okay soo... I can go a lot of ways with this.. if you want truly cozy, i.e lighter, comedic.. maybe I am not your best recommender, haha. Or pls define cozy and I can try my best. Here's some I enjoyed. Darker, perhaps or maybe typical, but here ya go regardless: The Silent Patient- Alex Michaelides .. maybe a more well known suggestion.. if you were cool with Gone Girl, etc. still good. Night Film: A Novel - Marisha Pessl .. dark creepy thriller. Good if you are a fan of horror films/general weirdness. Dept. Q series - Jussi Adler-Olsen ... Nordic(ish) mystery . Cold cases. Some darker than others. Also have been made into films. 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle - Stuart Turton...more Agatha Christie vibe. Like an escape room, in book form. I've got more, haha. Lmk.
