I had a vivid memory of purchasing Adele’s ‘21’ when it released and sitting in my closet that day memorizing the whole thing from my ipod nano. The feeling of sitting in my closet and listening to music is so pure and nostalgic and it makes me feel so happy that I still have a love for music like I did then! I hope this joy is universal 🥲

This is my favorite song in the world. I remember what I was doing when I first heard it. I was making necklaces in my basement and I think this was in the summer of 2021. Sometimes I feel like it hits too close to home because I never get over anything and I’m pretty sure I’ll be living in my parents house forever. Despite that unfortunate reality, this song has yet to lose its magic. This song will always be my favorite.

grew up with early 2000s kpop, dancing around the living room back in the philippines while wearing my kung fu panda pjs and not having a care in the world. now i play those same songs but i still feel the same exact rush of adrenaline as i did those many years ago. feeding into your inner child, they’re still in you.

This song always used to play at my single-mother’s workplace, where I spent a lot of time as a wee gal. This song used to make me transcend and still does tbh. I feel so cool when I’m listening, like I’m walking Rick Owens during FFW. I spent a lot of time not knowing this song because it would make me physically ill when I heard it, the amount of nostalgia it would elicit in me. Life is too short to be weighed down by an appreciation of the past, look at it lovingly and with hope for an even better future.

Listen to Jockstrap. It’s made up of Georgia Ellery (also in Black Country New Road) and Taylor Skye, and they go sooo hard. Georgia is the voice and plays multiple instruments while Taylor is more on the production side. I went to their Pitchfork Aftershow in Chicago last year and I have never had so much fun at a concert. Taylor sits onstage and literally just deejays the whole time (which is not a jab at him, he is a genius). Georgia sings, plays instruments, and performs for her LIFE. It’s a must listen, must see, must know. Here are some of my favorites of theirs; - City Hell - Glasglow - Sexy 2 - 50/50 (Extended Mix) - Hayley LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN!!!

I’m not a mother and to be completely transparent I don’t really want to be one ever. Something struck me so deep in my poetry class last semester that probably pushed me farther into not wanting children, poetry about motherhood. It must be my knack for empathy and passion that connects me so hard to these poems, who knows. I really really love these poems. ‘Metaphors’ by Sylvia Plath and ‘the mother’ by Gwendolyn Brooks, to name a few. There was an especially hard hitting one about being a stay at home mother, but it’s escaping me in the moment. If I remember it I will come back to this. I have an inkling that fellow women in their 20s may relate to this, and if not I would recommend going down a rabbit hole. It’s existential but who doesn’t love that?
