The vibes.. the music… it’s just yes.
honorable mentions that I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned yet include:
-30 days of night (a vampire movie that is very like a zombie movie.. in Alaska..)
-lair of the white worm (so kooky and hugh grant is reaaaallly looking good)
-midnight mass (mini series)
-The Coppola Nosferatu with Winona and Keanu and gratuitous Sapphic makeouts
-the vourdalak (the vampire is a puppet and it works)
-shadow of the vampire and Herzog nosferatu double feature
-kuroneko (for a different take on what a vampire can be)

This was a big one for us. The framing, color pallete, and pop- Americana imagery. I love how Burton envelops his audience into something far darker than you’re signing up for, and ensnaring the suburban landscape in what becomes a somewhat nightmarish hall of mirrors.
