tom petty is probably the most famous person from gainesville, i’ve gotta mention him.
but i think linda lyndell has one of the most interesting stories out of all of gnv music history. she was a soul artist in the ’60s and recorded “What A Man,” which was sampled by Salt N Pepa. i was lucky enough to get to interview her for a article i‘m writing for one of my journalism classes, as she is notoriously private. but i love that song and she was so amazing to talk to!!
