everyone these days wants to be a dj - if this sounds like you, one of the best ways to get your start is to go to open decks nights as much as you can- great way to meet other djs, form community, become more confident with the equipment and see how your music translates in front of others- just make sure to get their early cause slots do fill up fast! even if you already do have experience as a dj still would recommend, it never hurts to practice plus you get to meet a bunch of people and discover talent you might not have heard beforehand 🌟 fave spots for open decks are happyfun hideaway, silo, eris and cafe kitsune- gonna go to the end’s first open decks night tonight im excited

Small dance floor so not gonna recommend it on a weekend but sound/vibe will be legit for actual dancing. Also in NYC the real dancers — for house at least — tend to follow particular DJs (in the Paradise Garage and Club Shelter traditions) but I am personally out of the loop so you'd best ask the rug cutters in question when you spot them in the wild. Also look into Friends and Lovers in Crown Heights — another spot run by old-school heads.
