I can’t help but feel some sense of self-betrayal when I reach for a nude pink instead of a burnished rose or plummy shade, but it’s what I’ve been really into now. I’ve especially been enjoying doing a velvet matte finish on my base makeup and making my lips glossy nude pink as a textural contrast.
I didn’t used to need a powder, because my skin is relatively dry, but I’ve been using heavy moisturizer and sunscreen to “prime” my face and it makes the center of my face unflatteringly shiny.
The soft matte finish is also very 90s needless to say.
It’s just pretty and wearable.

I’m not an everyday makeup user, but I wanted a lil something to make me feel more out together/casually sexy and a light lip color has been a game changer!
I’m talking a tinted lip gloss or lip crayon or lip stain - low maintenance, isn’t gonna get on my teeth, is hard to mess up, and looks good as it fades throughout the day. Makes me feel so powerful!!! And pouty🫦💋

Do you want a simple, buildable everyday routine? Or are you looking for fun, experimental and accessible recs?
My everyday makeup is blush (Ilia At Last multistick), mascara (Ilia volumizing mascara), and lipstick (Clinique Black Honey, or Ilia Colorblock in Tango).
When I want concealer or foundation, I use Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, and Tarte Maracuja tinted hydrator— if I want something lighter I might just top my face with Laura Mercier loose setting powder.
If you want eye makeup or night out recs, I have this Morphe pink palette I’ve used forever, and the Tarte Quick Stick eyeliner and shadow sticks.
It’s very okay to still feel “bad at makeup”— it should feel fun, and low stakes, and what works for other people might not be what works for you— you have your whole life to find your products.
