I know Jane Austen isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. But I’m reading Sense & Sensibility right now and Marianne is sitting at her pianoforte crying over a guy she met two weeks ago, playing songs they used to sing together. 1700s girlies, they’re just like us.
Persuasion is Jane Austen’s best book, and her shortest— it’s more mature, and ruminative than Emma, gentler but also more dryly funny than Pride and Prejudice. Erivo does a really excellent job reading it, and it’s available on Spotify
It’s nice to be the one in the friend group who always has a game planned. I keep one deck in my purse and one on my car. Then have some quick games that are easy to teach. I suggest:
Six Card Golf
Garbage
Bullshit
Presidents and Assholes
