I first had nasi lemak in some Malaysian restaurant in East Hanover, NJ. It sounded awful. “Who the hell would choose to eat anchovies and hard boiled eggs?” I asked myself. The dish ended up being okay. I went to Singapore years later, and had it over there. Wtf?!?!? Delicious! One of the best things I ever put in my mouth. Fragrant rice, fried eggs fried af, fried chicken fried af, and peanuts, sambal, and rendang curry. It was good in the moment, but looking back do I realize it was a profound moment. I hope this convinced you to try it.
