I read the preface to the English Edition during my second year of college and proceeded to read the entire thing during the next years. It's quite dense, and goes into detail on a few historical and uses economy lingo that can be complicated to understand, a lot of paragraphs I had to read again and again. However, the most interesting aspect of the book is the dialogue between Marxist theory and Foucaut that the two authors are able to draw, alognside a psychoanalisys of the neoliberal subject. It's a book I usually always have on my table to go back to and reference. I highly recommend especially to people who are interested in Foucault.

Although I was more focused on the crime and deviancy aspect of this book, the entirety of the contents are incredible insightful and helpful in developing one's sociological imagination. Sociology really just clicked with me ever since I did it first in university and it helps provide the frame as to why we may do the things we do and how much socialisation affects every aspect of our lives since birth. Realising that our reality is socially constructed actually helped me feel more confident since once you break it down, none of the rules (aside from legal ones) really matter if they are broken. Overall, an incredible book yall should definitely check out even if you have no idea of what Sociology is. Don't knock it until you try it. And don't worry more beer reviews coming soon
