This was/is a real thing. As elementary school kids, we'd find damp copies of Oui and Penthouse under random bushes in the woods near school in Massachusetts in the late 70s. You'd think it would upgrade your 4th grade magazine collage project, but you'd be wrong.

I used to think I was lonely but then I accepted that it was actually me who didn't want to connect with people

You can find connection with anyone on the street, but the people I actually want to connect with are exceedingly rare. I think it's better to just accept it if you are someone with very specific needs and tastes rather than torturing yourself over the fact that you feel alienated and alone. It also makes it more special when there's someone I truly connect with.
