went to the camera museum in south plainfield NJ which was in a decrepit mansion run by two lovely senile men. ended up getting a free hi8 camera and books out of it so dont forget these strange pockets of your municipality
this is a free museum that shows some really unique and crazy contemporary art. my last visit i saw a huge immersive multi-media type show that made my jaw drop
There’s so many out there. I’ve been to the ice cream one in Chicago (it might be gone now?? I’m pretty sure it was a pop up) and a sock monkey one about an hour deep into suburbs. I think they’re so fun and a nice day trip with friends!
If you are into strange and obscure and whimsical artistic experiences, this museum in Culver City, CA is an absolute must. I would say, go into it without knowing anything other than this.
steel cut oats soaked in flax milk, a little maple syrup, and cold brew overnight. then top with plant based yogurt (coconut is good) a dusting of cocoa powder, and a couple chocolate chips (not too decadent now!)
prepare for a whimsical journey amigo. Los Hijos Del Sol and Los Zheros are a great jumping off point. Cuarto Oscuro is great. Check out the Roots of Chicha compilation album!
best done with a debilitating migraine.
if you're the type to fear a goblin with bloody eyes and no legs yanking the shower curtain open while you get the shampoo out of your eyes--just turn on your phone's flashlight!
if using this method, obscure it partially for just a sliver of light to see the products you're using or bounce it off the floor. i also like to pair it with some gentle (if not melodramatic) music. my choice is often Water Forest by Ichiko Hashimoto.
observe the way the water droplets refract the light. feel the sensation of them rolling off your shoulders and the smell of your water pipes. pretend you are a beautiful tragic figure and fetishize your suffering.
it's fabulous!
