This is what my mom did in NYC when she first moved to the U.S. in her twenties. I will be spending the rest of my life trying to attain this vibe (fruitlessly, I fear.)
The club is and always will be your family, especially if you're a little bit of a weirdo. I always meet new people when I go out and it feels soooo good to move your body in a way that feels comfortable for you. If you're at the right spot no one will judge your moves. Put on a silly little club outfit and put yourself out in the world of the creatures of the night. Best music is played after 5am, I can attest.
I went out dancing with my cousin in her 40s (I’m in my 20s) in a city where no one knew us. so nice not worrying about taking pictures for instagram of worrying about how good we looked dancing. it was just fun and free. love dancing and love clubbing.
if the Spanish language got one thing right, it’s inverted question/exclamation marks. ¡They are perfect and tell you what to expect from a sentence! I think all languages should adopt them.
I need to take my own advice… I will often meet people and the lovely things about them stick out to me — be it their laugh, the way they wear their hair, maybe a particular piece of clothing — and I really want to compliment them but the words are like peanut butter in my mouth and I can’t spit it out! I mean every now and again I remember a compliment I’ve gotten and am all 🤭 over it. I need to put that good energy back into the world!!!
