the first time i heard this song i was in my 1st period art class junior year of high school. i remember having to step out of class to cry. so insanely well written and beautifully performed and it feels so personal but universal. the song is meant to (in the narrative of the album) represent ethel’s reflection of her life from heaven and the feeling is so well translated. if you haven’t listened to preachers daughter Please God do it.
I find myself in almost all of the major characters in the book at different times of my life, and there are many parallels as well in different scenarios written in the book, whether literal or metaphorical.
