re-calibrating my screen time to move between substack, tumblr, pi.fyi, youtube,, image based social capital wasn’t made for me </3 but i love to look at beautiful pictures and read beautiful things! and i’ve decided i love that iPhones exist - what a world, and all in my pocket! how convenient! and being terrified of the phone just because tiktok exists is a silly thing to do, you have to love things in their whole being <3

looking at other peoples phones on the subway

its so fun to look over and see what other people are doing on their phones. are they playing a weird game? scrolling through their own camera roll? watching instagram stories? look at the faces of the people on their instagram feed. do you know any of them? i might even read a text message that someone is sending as they type it out. its way more interesting than looking at my own phone.

B&W iphone hack (the world should be more colorful than your phone)

having your phone be black and white makes every app 10x less addictive. i turn my phone on & off black and white depending on what i’m doing and there’s an easy way to switch back and forth in settings by triple clicking the side button: accessibility > general > accessibility shortcut > color filters and then you can go to color filters (just search it) and choose grayscale. i set mine at ~90% intensity so i can still see a hint of color. i love looking up from my phone and thinking “wow, the world is so colorful”

DisablING featured content in photos on iphone

As a chronic documentarian my phone is filled with memories, which I would like to access when I feel like it. Being bombarded with suggested images randomly on my homescreen takes me out of the moment, and it’s easy to fix- 1. Go to settings: Open the Settings app on your iphone 2. Scroll to Photos: Tap on Photos 3. Turn Off Memories and Featured Photos: Toggle off Show Featured Content New Year means New Possibilities! Here's to creating The New!
