because it’s one of the most riveting interviews I’ve read in a long time. It’s all in Spanish but you can use google translate to read in English. I’ve been a big fan of this press since they started putting stuff out They’re based in TJ, Mx.

one of my favorite musical projects to come out of the southwest US/northern Mexico in the last several years A “psychic handshake” between members Joaquin and Eric, if you will. They recontextualize the sounds of regional music from Texas and Mexico (norteño, tribal, cumbia sonidero, banda, country) into a patchwork of ambience and noise sounds like: if OPN was the DJ for your cousin’s quinceanera

“'alma blindada' is about human violence as a force of nature. of the geographic and cultural entropy caused by people and their lives and their toil and their pursuit of money and power and joy.” I have always been a fan of Nudo and the world building + signature contemplations of border ambience, but I am thrilled to know they’re making a proper corrido album that addresses the grim and grotesque of that geography head on You can pre order it now and it comes July 26th

Saw Valgur open up for Magdalena Bay about a month ago and haven’t stopped listening since. You can’t really go wrong with any starting point in their discography. Bola oro and Vampiro are on repeat for me lately. From Oaxaca, Mexico - their sound is so unique and really takes you on a full psyche trip.
