If you like going to the movies and have a selection of AMCs near you it’s an unbelievably good deal. Even at my most destitute I have refused to cancel this membership because it’s basically a free activity anytime and a fun little date with myself. 3 movies a week for $25/month??? I will never shut up about this.

What I love about nyc is the infinite amount of screenings there are for all types of movies — I think of it as an event more than anything! Feels way more fulfilling than just catching a film that just came out at an amc or whatever. The theaters r so much more intimate! And then you’ll watch happy together 1997 and the colors will be so beautiful n bright and you’ll cry and feel the same way someone did after seeing it 20+ years ago!

Saying ‘I’m going to my room’ is so mundane and I’m never going back to it

like actually going out and trying things. put in an effort and take pride in that (being effortless is soooo out for 2024). use this platform to find new amazing things! you can never really know what you like and what brings you joy and fulfillment and all that cheesy stuff unless you actually go and really try a bunch of stuff. I love trying!

lol this is what I do research about. Also aerobic exercise is literally the most important thing you can be doing. Neuroprotective (ie prevents cognitive decline and can protect against Alzheimer’s) and promotes synaptic growth in the forebrain (cognition and critical thinking areas). Also doing logic puzzles can be immensely beneficial for helping certain cognitive areas you may be lacking in. It also doesn’t take much time (my lab found that ~2 hrs of cognitive training a week significantly improves memory at the synaptic level)
Neuroscientists have shown that the brain is capable of changing and adapting throughout life, a concept known as neuroplasticity. This understanding has implications for recovery from brain injuries, learning new skills, and maintaining cognitive function as we age.
