Just overpowering soulfulness. An amazing musician and singer, such an incredible loss when his demons got the best of him. The sound he makes coming out of the conga break (around 9:10) gives me goosebumps.
J Dilla and in particular the book Dilla Time by Dan Charnas, such a beautiful insight into the magician that is J Dilla, his complex life and how he changed music forever. Gonna need a detroit tigers cap asap!
this edit is smooth as hell, I could let this beat ride all day. this ainβt βslowed and reverb,β this oneβs chopped by THE MAN HIMSELF, rip DJ Screw π
The "love song" from the Cactus Album. The groove is sexy and the rhymes have a cockstrong attitude that convinced even 18yo me that I was gonna pull that night. I'm more partial to Pete Nice than Serch, but they both deserve to be remembered for their skills.
Sounds to me like Al Green and the Stones had a baby. My favorite song off their Half the City album. Don't care much for their subsequent work (aside from Apollo, which I could listen to on endless repeat), but this album kicks ass from start to finish.
