i start a lot of my projects by researching things related to what i'm working on. just google your topic and look at articles (jstor is a great place to find scholarly stuff)🎢 or if you're doing film ubu web is a lovely place to find inspiration! i'm also a big fan of internet archive because there's all sorts of crazy random stuff on there. i find that researching helps me solidify my ideas🐆
i am sure many people do this but i love to fall down internet rabbit holes about my favorite subjects and compile information and scholarly articles and books about my silly interests. my biggest one currently is on monsters as metaphor/horror as expression and the monstrous feminine!
and what they have been up to in the past and/or present, is tons of fun. You learn so much, see them as a whole person (because they are), learn about hobbies you'd like to try out, frankly a mundane day spent well.
pretty sure celine rec'd this which is why i finally signed up. a very useful tool for managing and archiving research and just knowledge in general. super cool, spent most of my morning using it to arrange all my bits of academic papers, articles, random knowledge. definitely plan to use it long term.
my mother and i would have serene dreams tea together every night before i went back to school. now we do it over facetime but it's really nice to have time to just sit down with someone you love and talk with them
i love knowledge. getting to absorb information and interact with other students and professors in an environment dedicated to that is really wonderful i think. do i think the education system is good, no i do not. where i live it's run like a business and education should be free. regardless, i'm going to be so sad when i'm not in school anymore lowkey. posting this while i’m in class rn btw
