I know V-day was yesterday, but this is one of the most lovesick, ambitious romantic novels i’ve ever read. NY-based playwright, novelist, and poet Matthew Gasda (also P.I. affiliate) crafts a story spanning 30~ years, all told through letters written as if the other may or may not read it. As a big fan of his writing, this novel brings out all of his strengths (tho Zoomers, Dime Square, Berlin Story also potent). The scale he operates here is mind blowing. Looking forward to more prose from him in the future!

I like reading plays while traveling, the words don't crowd the page which is nice for reading in hectic places. This one is about two lovers kept apart by their families, because the guy savagely beat the girl into a permanent state of brain damage, yet it becomes apparent that they’re still in love. It's a difficult story, I think I have an affinity for those.

slow reader, so all books are long... but i loved this! captured the same loneliness as camus' the stranger, but much more tender and emphatic. adored the early meet-cute stuff as well :(((

Energetic, kooky bildungsroman featuring a cast of many P.I.-featured performers. Absurd enough to be on Adult Swim, prestigious enough to be highlighted at major film festivals! Likely playing in a theater near you! Also on Apple TV 2/27. Saw it a couple times and would like to watch again!

Saw this at Quad Cinema in 2021, and has become a favorite ever since. Anne is a 27-year old daycare worker who is socially disconnected, and unsure of her role in adulthood. Her life radically changes when she tries skydiving, though as an audience, we’re unsure of the kind of release she finds from it. Excellent Canadian indie about coming-of-age in your mid/late 20s. Deragh Campbell is great as Anne, who’s undiagnosed anxiety disorder keeps her a step behind from relating to her peers or finding a sense of happiness. It’s a brisk 75 minutes that’ll have you thinking far after the movie is over. Bought the beautiful poster from Posteritati in the East Village and it remains one of my favorites in my poster collection.
