* eat soup dumplings in a random chinatown spot that you do not read about on the internet. or go to flushing. either way. * go to alfargo's marketplace, if you're here at the right time * eat pizza, obviously. * I like the karaoke cave for karaoke * eat an everything bagel with cream cheese, lox, red onion, and capers. *DO NOT ASK ANYBODY TO TOAST A BAGEL*. A bagel should be eaten fresh, and the interior should be soft, not toasted at all. * enter broadway lotteries. If you win a ticket, it's not touristy. if you pay full price, it's a little bit touristy. * if you like whiskey, visit the brandy library. maybe you're not coming to America for whiskey, but the ambiance is half the selling point. (there are many other great whiskey bars in the city).

Go down to Brick Lane on Saturday or Sunday for the vintage market, it’s huge! Skip hotel breakfast and get a bagel from Beigel Bake while you’re there Camden Market is where everyone goes. There’s lots of cute stalls and plenty of indie stores between the tourist traps. Try to go during the week because it can get overwhelming with people Take advantage of the free (yes 100% free) museums! V&A is a must, especially the costume wing National Gallery/National Portrait Gallery is also nice Also, cannot emphasize enough to only eat ethnic food while you’re there and eat as much as you can Dishoom (if you can’t get a dinner res just stand in line for lunch) is still a top 3 meal of all time for me Try and get a res at Darjeeling Express! Chef Asma Kahn and her all-women run kitchen were featured on Chefs Table if you want to get to know her and the restaurant better and cry so much Zima is a v cute Russian spot in SoHo with cafe vibes and cool art If you’re a garlic girlie, Garlic and Shots is right around the corner and has, yes, so many different shots you can take and so much good bar food with garlic There’s also a casual Sri Lankan food place called Hoppers on the same block Seriously, forget about going out of your way for British food. You’ll be disappointed every time If you ever want to get out of SoHo, walking is so rewarding and there’s a ton a cute things to see. Also, the train is super easy (you can just use your phone to tap in and out now) if you want to explore other neighborhoods further out

-🍜 Very Fresh Noodles: Nestled in the back of Chelsea Market this place has such delicious noodles, vegan options too! Not too expensive and a great place to catch up with loved ones you haven’t seen in a while ! - 🐠Lamias Fish Market: Call me cheesy but I love the commitment this restaurant has to theme and the interiors are so so beautiful! - 🌳Sheep Meadow as soon as the temp is livable to be sitting outside. One of the most magnificent places, its like Love Actually and is such a perfect and beautiful place to read, have reunions, get inspired by adorable dogs, and depending on where you sit slash if you’re me - dodge frisbees. Honorable mentions for the Mall and then the benches near the sea lions at the Central Park Zoo - 🍕Arthur Avenue in the Bronx: You can find the most magnificent Italian food and goodies here. I think about the Zero Otto Nove butternut squash truffle pizza daily. I also usually stop at one of the markets for a mangonada every time I’m there and now I want one ugh - 🖼️ The Wrightsman Galleries at the Met: I take most art tolerant people visiting the city to this exact spot because it’s simply so magnificent and the lighting is so gorgeous the way it hits all the furniture and changes room to room. I usually also stop into the Albertine from here for the breathtaking room in the lobby and of course the bookstore! - 🎭 Most Shows tbh: of course I’m a theater kid and cringe is the fabric of my lore!! There are so many ways to find relatively approachable tickets for shows whether it’s via lotteries, TDF, today tix, etc. I am fully indoctrinated from my high school eras so take this with a grain of salt but I have wept at some point every time I see a show post lockdown because it’s so unbelievable to experience so many raw emotions in a room of people and to see performers leave everything on the stage multiple times a week!! Agh I’ll cry rn just thinking about it!! - 🌉Most anywhere in Brooklyn: I don’t go here nearly enough and I also lack creative lore so drop me anywhere in Brooklyn and I’m oooing and aahing!! Space is probably the first differentiator, and from there I just love all the more bespoke little stores and restaurants, bars and fashion, and of course the Brooklyn Museum! -

I feel like this place isn't about people but about recommendations, right? forget the influencer, forget the individual, just browse and talk about cool shit and whoever says something good, that's good. that's what I liked about reddit, back when I actually liked reddit. I haven't found many people I want to follow, and I'm not really looking.

I've been enjoying new clothes, and experimenting them with fun ways, so much lately that I need to keep reminding myself of this. Not every excursion outside needs to be fresh and new and experimental. If I am going out and I need a warm sweater and I need my sneakers and I already have a fit in mind with those pieces, I can just wear it, I don't need to reinvent the wheel every time.
