i just went to my first punk show in my city, since a friend of mineβs band was playing and he invited me. it was at 8pm at a coffee shop, and i felt very out of place at first among these people who are so much more incredibly cool than me. then, the music started, and i realized that i was headbanging just like everyone else. girls asked me to hold their things when they went to mosh, and i helped people up off the floor when they fell in the pit. it was a very unifying experience and i met lots of real weirdos (which i love). highly recommend

if you walked into my room at any given time between ages 12-16, this was 1000% on my screen. or ahs murder house.
thats not an exaggeration: this stupid little film was my way of life for years and years and years, my comfort watch.
its a classic that every emo kid has seen, surely, but i am certain that no sane human could possibly NOT respect/enjoy it even if you arent emo/never fw them.
a concert divided into two acts with a full fucking circus on tour with them. full burlesque dancer breaks and an intermission. most impressive of all? bassist (jon) is the oldest in this clip at like 21 i think? brendon urie was 18, ryan ross 19, spencer 16.
so brilliant it blows my mind every time

time frame's approximate buuuut you know it when you hear it. think "poker face". there is so much space and everything's so dry... there is no lushness... the drum samples are unbelievably flat... and yet! and yet! it works so well! the economy of production makes any pop singer's vocals soar even higher than they would otherwise, and really pares the machine of a pop song down to its bare necessities... which is why i think we got so many bangers in this period. there's a lot of good stuff to get into even if it's just for nostalgia

tbf i'm still working on this but: many ppl have the tendency to like, put themselves out in the world with an attached asterisk like "oop! sorry i exist! oop! sorry if you don't like me, i'm working on being the universally beloved human object! oop!" and thusly pre-apologize for every mildly annoying or perceptually uncouth action they will ever take. none of that shit. assuming one is regular and not trying to like, destroy the lives of everyone around themselves, one does not need to constantly explain and apologize for their actions. trust people to tell you if you suck, because They Will.
same goes for art obvs. don't apologize just make it and if people think it sucks they'll tell you.
