I love checking the oil in my car. Something so soothing about it (and just generally good for car maintenance). Also last year one of my headlights randomly went out and I decided to take a stab at it at 1 in the morning - wikiHow said that it was probably an issue with the fuses, so I opened those up. Turns out the lightbulb was just dead lol. Still felt good! Now I just need to learn how to change a tire

as someone with a 26 year old jeep cherokee, there have been lots of things that i've had go wrong with my car. when i lived back home, i got to just rely on my dad to fix it for me and never paid much attention. i knew the basics (changing tires, changing my oil, refilling various fluids) but when i looked under the hood nothing meant anything to me. now i live a 20 hour drive from home and am far too broke to be able to go to the mechanic all the time so, still very much with my dad's guidance over facetime and him sending me youtube videos, i've learned to fix a lot of stuff on my own. i've changed my oil at my apartment in the middle of the city, changed my belt, replaced sensors, fixed my battery, etc. i still have no idea what i'm doing most of the time and don't know the names of most of the parts, but i always feel so satisfied after successfully fixing something. my dear jeep frederick may be old and beat up and likes to break down on me frequently, but we're in this together 🫶🏻

i think this is something exclusive to quick oil change places. i was at valvoline, but the brand doesn’t matter. the experience started negatively, after the mechanic wrongly accused me of pulling the wrong lever to pop the hood. so i banished him, and thus began feeling like a princess in my castle. the pistons started roaring and i began to float. the pneumatic wrenches were vibrating the car from every tire and it brought me out of body. how strange to feel the extremities of a machine that has become become an extension of yourself. i used my $15 coupon (jesus oil is $89? i gotta learn to do it on my own 🤪), and rolled out while blowing kisses to everyone as they waved me on, including my giant inflated valvoline guard dog. my scarf billowed out the drivers side window (rear left window doesn’t roll down). i never get out of my car.

I get it’s intimidating but believe me when I say normal maintenance on cars is really easy. Pretty much everything you would ever need to know is on YouTube. If teenage boys can do it, so can you.

It’s kind of a buy one get one free situation because you get the first romance as well as the second one of them falling back in love with each other. You were so passionate you ended it with someone and yet you found your way back and decided that the love was worth working through your pain?? Are you kidding me?? notable example: you deserve each other by Sarah Hogle. fav niche trope tho is the epistolary romance… fall in love w me via prolonged email exchange please
