it's spring. there are some good parks in brooklyn. walk over, get some fresh air, find some cafe, get a bite on your way back, or maybe pick up like one ingredient to make dinner with, something like that.
if you wander by some bowling alley or arcade or karaoke club, pop in. Personally, my goal there would be to have a fun time with strangers, but you could just do your own thing.
if you're in manhattan, go up to the bar on the roof of some hotel, don't even bother getting a drink, just appreciate their view. or get a drink, they're expensive but often tasty.
wander. the city is dense and walkable.

Manyyyy good recs have been made already, but here are a few that I feel strongly about:
Coffee:
-SEY Coffee is the best in the city by far. Incredible pour overs and espresso. I used to go there every day when I lived in Bushwick.
-For a true old school cup, Porto Rico is great. The one on Bleecker has been there since 1958 and is great. No place to sit inside however.
Pool:
-Amsterdam Billards is the stand-by billiard hall! a little pricey but I like it
Dayspa:
- (Cheap) Wall Street Bath & Spa
- (Not-Cheap) Bathhouse in Williamsburg
Parks + Cemeteries (besides the glorious Central Park):
-Madison Square Park is great for a classic NY-feel. Go to S&P Lunch for sandwiches and eat in the park on a nicer day.
-In Brooklyn both McCarren Park and McGolrick Park are great - Ray's and Twins Lounge are nearby for drinks as well.
-Green-wood Cemetery is sprawling and scenic.
-Avoid Maria Hernandez Park at all costs.

They are honor and celebrate peoples lives so beautifully and often offer insight. This one at the Brooklyn botanic gardens lilac collection is such a sweet nod to a fellow lilac lover and if you aren’t looking closely you might miss it!

Art criticism has its place but nothing stinks more than recommending a movie to someone and them saying “but it has a low IMDB rating”… maybe it’s just ahead of its time. maybe it’s misunderstood. Maybe it’s perfectly low brow.
