Personally, I love hearing about the inner worlds of total strangers. You don’t know them and you’ll likely never see them again, so no consequences! No baggage! Someone has done this to you, I’m sure
this authumn my go-to grounding activity has become visiting my favourite cafe and listening to all the gossip and action happening around me. yesterday as i was drinking my tea and trying to read a bell hooks book, four british girls were loudly discussing how they wipe their bums. of course i couldn't read and had to listen and reflect on my own techniques. then on my right was a first date (?) where a french man was desperately trying to teach a girl this new card game. they were struggling. oh and last week i witnessed another very cringey first date where the guy was trying to guess his date's age for about ten minutes.
i can't recommend ethical and harmless eavesdropping enough. makes me feel ALIVE!
