The whole thing sound majestic to me, but the third movement?? This shit slaps and is different. ok it is perhaps gimmicky next to the more traditional adjacent parts, because it’s almost entirely chorale. But it can be someone’s hook into the piece. Sounds middle eastern but somehow not maquamic?? Then you realize it might be Jewish.. but not klezmeric, more cantorial. Which it turns out to be indeed — recorded at the synagogue of Great Ades (ha) in Jerusalem.
