I have the classic combination of insomnia + not being a morning person, so I don’t make plans or schedule meetings first thing Typically my first alarm is 7.15 then get up about 8. I used to read on the sofa every morning but it can make me feel a few steps behind on my day… not a vibe. Ideally I’d be one of the 5am-ers :(

I’ve struggled with sleep maintenance my whole adult life and have been working PST jobs from the East Coast for years now, so both naturally hopeless and lacking your standard external motivators to be conscious in the “single digits.” I actively want to change this so that I have time to myself in the morning to read/exercise/just chill since I work later into the night, but has never been something I can consistently rewrite. In any case, I have the luxury to drink coffee and read for a bit in bed before starting my work day, but wow if I master mornings I’d have hours…

I hate it its torture but I have to be at work at 8:30. Generally leave the house within 10 minutes of waking up. A lot of my friends find this insane, but I’ve found that I just don’t like the morning, and having more time to chill doesnt change that too much. Usually like sleeping until 10 when it’s up to me.

I wake up at 10am nearly everyday. I spent so long trying to fight it and go earlier, but it’s just not for me. I get the best, most uninterrupted sleep when I go to sleep between midnight and 2am. if I’m feeling extra snoozy I’ll allow myself an 11am start. I try to not have any plans before midday (this often doesn’t work when dealing with other peoples schedules), so I can write in bed for 30 mins to an hour before getting up. ive tried to have a “better” morning routine and it’s always made me feel worse. It should probably be said that I have M.E., and prior to starting ADHD meds last year I required a minimum of 10+ hours sleep a day, so this routine is a vast improvement for me. mornings and life in general have been much easier since I’ve listened to what my body does, rather than force it into what I think it should do.
