Itās a sort of reverse heist movie because in a way watergate was a heist but it is about the reporters running around trying to figure out who done it in fantastic corduroy suits.

Magic Mike like technically isnāt a heist film but people pulling together to make a plan against the odds and directed by Soderbergh just feels one.
I also think Sorkin films always feel heisty even when they arenāt. People talking fast and making plans is what makes a heist great, but Mollyās game is the closest to an actual heist film And itās one of my favs.
the film that first got me into Heist films was Entrapment, and then The Great Escape (although is an escape film a heist filmā¦probably not?)

The 2009 Argentinian version, a really good detective thriller, feels like an early christopher Nolan film in a lot of way. its got the same time thing going on, with it cutting between the detectives solving the case and then writing a book about it 20 years later. thereās a scene about halfway through set at a football pitch, which is genuinely one of the most impressive scenes Iāve ever seen in a movie. 100% recommend

Not the only one to rec this (obviously if youāre scrolling), but itās one Iāve looked to a lot while working on some heist movie scripts. I think itās perfectly structured, and I have a whole email in my archives where I break down exactly how it operates for reference. I even own a DVD

This was a truly horrid thought I had the other day when I was walking over the river while marveling at the water, the city lights, cars, and people. Scrolling and walking do have similarities and realizing this was valuable to me. Scrolling simulates visual stimuli moving across our field of vision as we navigate a digital landscape.
Taking a walk outside, making dinner, talking to a friend in person, or even just wandering around my apartment have all worked to minimize scrolling urges for me. They all also tend to involve the movement of my visual field with constant new stimuli.
Its also important to note that none of these tasks require intensive demands to focus attention. If I want to doom scroll I probably want to relax my brain from concentrated attention while engaging in a repetitive task. Just walking around my apartment is better than scrolling and often more realistic than reading. Finding ways to relax and procrastinate without using screens may seem counter-intuitive but I think it gives me more freedom. Plus I have never regretted going on a walk.

i went on a walk from the gloucester train station through downtown past rocky neck and all the way to the eastern point. it is a great summers day activity

okay yes maybe its short because its a childrens book, but that doesn't detract from it being a classic of postmodern literature
