it’s the very least we can do. one of the few things america has gotten right is allowing us to protest the government and that’s exactly what we should be doing right now. there are multiple ways of protesting including going to marches, boycotting, addressing your representatives directly, and voting “uncommitted“ in the upcoming primaries to communicate to the democratic party that they are not acting in the people’s interests and that we will not support biden if he continues to fund this occupation and the deaths of tens of thousands of people. please do your part because you’d want people to do the same if it was you in this situation. i’ve linked a list of upcoming protests around the world. please use it. <3

Well, being gay isn’t exactly a virtue on the Hamas agenda. I suggest you read their founding charta. And than you go into a deep meditation and think about the extremly difficult question of who started the war. If you find an answer you imagine a future with no Israel but a Palastine state between the river (its thr river Jordan, as you probably dont know) and the sea governed by Hamas. And finally you apply for citizenship and emigrate to the new Islamo-fascist state. I can write you a letter of recommendation!

Fishsauce i find it entertaining every time i hear the “but hamas is homophobic!” argument because it makes absolutely no contribution. just because a government is not progressive in gay rights does not mean that tens of thousands of its people should be killed. we can separate the two facts that palestine has homophobic legislation and that war crimes should stop being committed. what you’re doing is called pinkwashing, which is when someone appeals to gay rights as a means of distraction from the problem at hand and as a way to avoid acknowledging wrongdoing. it is exploitative of queer people and our struggles. so no, i personally wouldn’t want to live in palestine. but i also would like for its people to stop being killed. and those two things can be true at the same time. and yes, i know that it’s the river jordan.

protest hamas. they started the war and consistently refuse ceasefire deals because they're not willing to give up hostages *or* agree to peace. they don't want peace. they are happy with the war as is. they think you're in their corner. are you?

danhakimi i don’t like hamas! but they haven’t murdered 30,000 israeli civilians and forcefully displaced millions while strategically starving them for months. if they do, then i’ll carry the same energy for them that i do for the israeli government and military.

danhakimi not to mention the fact that israel has also declined ceasefire agreements, citing that they won’t stop until a “total victory” which is becoming abundantly clear to mean taking over the entirety of gaza and cleansing it if its people.

danhakimi one final point; hamas did not start the war. israel, along with some other middle eastern countries, invaded the palestinian territory in 1948 and conflicts like the one we’re seeing today have continued since. please understand the history before you form an opinion against oppressed people.

sydisstupid Israel's stated standard of "total victory" is returning the hostages and removing the threat Hamas poses to its civilians. It's agreed to ceasefire proposals that ensure quite a bit less than that. I am not supporting every policy in the war, I really do think they need to find ways to let more aid in safely and distribute its safely, and that they should have a much better plan for peace afterwards. I also think that will come when they finally kick Netanyahu and is far-right allies out of the government, which will definitely happen, because Israel is a democracy and he's had rock-bottom approval ratings for ages.

danhakimi By the way, that 30,000 number is not civilians, it's total dead. the Gaza Ministry of Health—run by Hamas—does not distinguish between civilians and combatants. They have been caught lying in the past, but they wouldn't bother lying about that. The civilian count is still higher than it should be, but by comparison to any other war, and especially by comparison to urban warfare with human shields, the civilian casualty rate is astoundingly low. War is awful, and the sooner this war ends, the better. But I feel like most people saying "ceasefire" are ignoring actual ceasefire proposals and just expecting Israel to surrender. That's not going to happen.

sydisstupid Israel didn't invade anything in 1948. The Jews liberated their indigenous homeland from British colonizers, taking the land the UN said it should have, and six Arab nations invaded Israel on day one. Israel did not occupy anything after that war; Egypt occupied Gaza and Jordan occupied the West Bank. Conflicts in the region really started to ramp up in 1920 with the first pogrom by the Palestinians, attempting to rout out the Jews who had the audacity to live in land they bought. please understand the history before you form an opinion against oppressed people.

danhakimi Oh, and there was a ceasefire in place on October 6th, so yes, the current war started on October 7th, and was started by Hamas, without ambiguity.

i have seen so many protests for palestine in the last few weeks and saw so many people not protecting themselves. here are some tips (this is all my opinion and not at all by a professional, if there even are professional protesters): (partially ripped off of tyrathetaurus on twitter) first of all: protesting is good. if you have the privilege to attend protests for a good cause, definitly do it. you can inform yourself for every protest in your city online, it really isnt that hard. just look for the protest, your city and than 2024, or whatever year. second: many countries have the right to assemble!! i know of USA and Germany. its a human right to assemble and protest. dont forget this! third: the police is NOT your friend! they are not there to protect protesters, they are there to make it more difficult for you. we have seen this in BLM protests, we are seeing this on uni and college campuses for palestine. whatever you do, try not to talk to police. 1. how to stay safe: - write phone numbers on your body, write your name on your body - DO NOT go alone to protest. always have at least one person with you. if you see someone alone, help them, stay with them, invite them to protest with you. - put your phone on airplane mode, disable Face ID and fingerprint, use a PIN-Code, change your phone case to a black one, if you dont have it already. - never take pictures of others with out their consent (this is self explainable). try not to take pictures and videos of people that could be easily recognised. - dont wear stuff that can be easily recognised. wear stuff that hides your face and hides your skin. - WEAR A MASK!!! not only can it protect your from diseases, it hides your face incredibly well. - DO NOT talk to anti-protesters and police. youre doing more harm than good. its better to ignore than argue. 2. what to do if stopped and/or detained by police; what to do if youre threatend with or under arrest - dont resist. they will attack you - make sure someone is recording you, the officer, and the situation - ask if youre free to leave. if yes, WALK AWAY - ask why you are being arrested. if they dont answer: ask for legal represantation - DO NOT give personal information, everything will be used against you. Your rights if youre stopped/detained: - you have to give consent for the police to search your stuff. if you do, everything will be used against you - police can pat you down if they suspect a weapon on you 3. what to do if you see someone being detained - film it. police cannot view or delete the footage - talk to the person, calm them down. they are likely nervous and scared 4. USE YOUR PRIVILEGE!!! help the disabled, help possible minors, find medics for harmed or someone having a panic/anxiety attack, help BiPOC if theyre harrassed, etc… 5. if you are a minor, you should NOT protest, unless your guardian or a trusted adult is with you. remember: DONT GO ALONE 6. if you cant participate, HELP THE PROTESTERS!!! drop off water, allergy friendly food and snacks, sharpies, cards with helpful phone numbers, masks, hand sanitizers, etc… 7. cant protest at all? BOYCOTT AND REPOST!!! doing even something small is ALWAYS better than doing nothing. inform yourself https://bdsmovement.net/ especially if you are a minor: reposting stuff online, telling and informing others about the situation and boycotting IS HELPING. please stay safe, go protest if possible, always help others.

There's been a numbing, sinking, unescaping feeling of dread at the pit of my stomach and the depths of my chest these days that continues to augment on the daily due to the current landscape of the world. Being in high school right now is such an experience in and of itself, I hear so much insensitive, immature, inaccurate, idiotic rhetoric, insults, and straight-up slurring left and right. Reading and any form of intellectual gain or self-actualization is immediately met with accusations of being a "nerd" or how it's some waste of time, which is influenced by the rapid consumption of social media in all of our daily lives. People in my circles are becoming radicalized and desensitized to really, really frightening ideologies that are facilitated through the lack of discernment and punishment for simply just wrong exclusionary statements that are said to attack people's integrity, race, gender, what have you. I am not hearing many positive things going on, and every insane headline I accidentally see, even when I avoid the news (not that that is the answer), is something straight out of a dystopian novel. It hasn't been a month and a week if I'm correct. Left and right, I see exclusionary, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, racist, classist, chauvanistic, and outright outdated policies and rhetoric normalized and spreading like wildfire. We tried to tell ourselves it wouldn't be this bad. It is that bad. And pray to whatever you worship that it won't get worse. But don't leave it at that. Do your part. Please do your damn part. Volunteer. Donate. Talk about it. Use your platforms. This post is not meant to catastrophize, but to shake you hard and wake you up. When tomorrow comes around, remember the plan. Please look up the "People's Union USA" for more information on the February 28th boycott, and try your hardest to do your part. We are the people, the masses they fear. We have the power.

so freaking cute. i love movies where it’s a tiny character and you get to see their different little world (like ferngully which is also great if you haven’t seen it) i didnt expect it to also be a commentary on social media and celebrity but that was cool too. music was great. the voice acting was great (how is that jenny slate????). i was hesitant to watch because everyone spoke so highly of it and i didn’t wanna be disappointed, but it’s so worth the hype!
