Portable and a softer more intimate reading experience. Front covers look ten times better with a fold and a dent and a coffee stain

stiff paperbacks ruin the entire reading experience for me. it’s worse when they have smaller margins, damn i’m just trying to read? i don’t even mind the creases in the spine… anyway this post isn’t about that, i love when paperbacks have a good flop!!! nine times out of ten the pages in those aren’t rough too 🙂‍↕️

if it’s not a little tattered and fucked up I can’t really mess with it. I like the weathered look, things written in the margins. it shows me it got the love and attention it deserved.

I like when a book has some scribbles or folded corners from a previous life. It makes me feel less anxious about keeping it pristine and it's honestly pretty romantic to sit and think about who held it before you.

Mid 2010s I think?? Not been able to date yet. Got for a steal on ebay this winter haven't been able to style yet though. I think summer will maybe be its moment. Its a cold purple, low waisted and calf length, got some cool straps and a very Ann asymetic ruffle split. It's very cool imo Also have a Prada FW 90 silk-wool blend skirt (the pic) that I'm a bit scared to wear after I got sun cream on it last summer... the dry cleaner did manage to get the oil stain out though 🥲

I agree with madchen about Sneakys and Ventoux. The Jazz Bar for live jazz, Sorra Lella does amazing italian plant based food, Central Mosque Kitchen is cheap and delicious. Edi is the only city in Scotland u can legally drink on the street so if the weather is nice head to The Meadows. Wandering about the city is good but its so easy/ cheap to get out to some more rural green spaces, Rosslyn Chapel and woodland etc or Pentlands if ur into hikes. Jorum studio is niche perfumers in Stockbridge, Armstrongs is famous chain of vintage shops (expect a search for something good), charity shops in Stockbridge and South Bridge are better priced and more variety imo, 5th season vintage does more curated /90s european designer vintage if thats ur thing There's also a cast iron fountain on Castle Hill dedicated to victims of the witch hunt which I always take people to see
