Story time! Today I went to my one of my favorite coffee shops in Brooklyn. It was a bit packed so I took a seat next to a guy who sparked a conversation with me. We spent the next hour talking and then even went to Beacon’s Closet together. He was visiting from the UK, so I was giving him some of my recs and helping him find a leather jacket. Anyway, Andrew from Yorkshire, thanks for making my day!

It’s nice to remember that the world is brimming with kind people. I by no means have lengthy conversations with them, but even a joke or an observation to the store attendant makes me feel like I am the sort of person who is casual about things. It’s fun and reminds me to get outside my (sometimes claustrophobic) bubble.

Even if it's not received well. I spent most of my life feeling awkward around other people (and still sometimes do) but I love chatting it up with a stranger. Giving a compliment, cracking a joke. An internet acquaintance is in Boston? Let's go get a drink! Making friends this way proves something to a younger, more shy version of myself.
