Just recently found this Welsh psych/folk band. They seem like they should be far more famous than they are.
As far as I can tell, every song they have is beautiful. It’s like Devendra Banhart meets the Kinks, late 60s British psych, and John Cale (who is apparently a big fan). But it’s also pretty late 90s sounding, makes me feel like a kid.

Debut album by a severely underrated band from New Zealand. Hard to give it a specific genre, but expect witty poetics, and an art rock sensibility.
They recorded the whole thing on a 4-track cassette and I think it is an example of rock minimalism par excellence.
My favorite track “Don‘t Let Me See You Swing and Miss“ is a tender dialogue between the lead singer and a guest vocalist set over somber, melodic guitars—it gets me feeling lots of things.

Underrated Shoegaze and Dream Pop band, probably because they were most active *just* pre-streaming era. Sort of like the ethereality of Beach House reconciled with the energy of (various genres of) dance music, plus a lot of interesting harmonies between the two singers

When it's cold and dark outside, I feel like I want to revisit what I already know. I listen to a lot of bands I love and kinda fall in love all over again. Thanks to Spotify's Discover Weekly I'm exposed to a lot of things that blow my mind regularly, so I don't get in a rut. Mordicai Jones is one of these bands* that came out of nowhere, and blew my mind. How isn't this a famous song?
*it's not a real band, in fact, but a project from Link Wray, eternally underrated guitar legend, always ahead of his time
