I read this one because I was told station eleven was good, but was more interested by the description of this book. Now that I know I like the authors writing though I’ll be checking station eleven out soon. In Sea of Tranquility, you read a story that spans centuries, from the early 1900s, to the future spacefaring days. There’s something that ties these timelines together, and I was hooked from start to finish.

i’ve heard emily st john‘s work described as “hauntingly lyrical” which is a perfect assessment. station 11 blew me away every time i read it (written in like 2018 about a worldwide pandemic. rereading after covid was an insane experience). her three most recent works tie together very faintly which is so satisfying as a fan, but not necessary at all to enjoy any of them. erin morgenstern is absolutely wonderful. magical, mystical, an adult perspective on childlike wonder. or maybe a childlike perspective on adult hardships. the starless sea is my favorite book of all time. a story about stories, secret worlds, and the undercurrent of life they have. a very mature take on whimsy
