We're long overdue in thrusting "What do you do?" into the sea forever. It's time we collectively get down to what people are interested in instead of minimizing their vibrant existence by asking how they make money.

my tack was always "what do you do for fun?" but I like this more because it's more about your current mood/interests. Will incorporate!

I almost get annoyed at myself when I accidentally ask someone what they do for work OR when I start talking about work before someone explicitly asks about it. Habit 🤷‍♀️

asking this when meeting someone new, fun discovery process for both parties! instead of “so what do you do for work?” or for the collegiates: “what’s your major?” this question serves the choose-your-own-adventure purpose because not everyone is afforded/prefers a stable job or education. it also allows you to get to know someone better, maybe they’re going to tell you about the 200 plants they take care of, or the profound though they’ve been stuck on. or, maybe they will think you’re weird and just tell you what they do for work, which is fine too, because it also answers the question. plus, people get excited when you ask them this. it’s unconventional in those early stages, cool points awarded brethren.

I thought it might be cool to make a field recording compilation for anyone here that's interested. It could be a nice document of a particular time and space, and it's a relatively low barrier to make some art! I could set up a Google Drive folder for people to record voice memos and drop them into, then put them up on Bandcamp or something
